Welcome to Gilbert Hardwood Centers Inc., a hardwood
lumber and plywood distribution company with operations in Trinity, NC and
Huntland, TN. All employees have a consistent focus
on quality and service, earning Gilbert it's reputation for being a dependable
source of quality Appalachian Hardwood lumber.
Both operations offer customers a variety of choices in hardwood lumber including Red and White Oak, Poplar, Walnut, Cherry, Hard and Soft Maple, Basswood, Mahogany, Alder, Ash, Birch, Hickory and Tupelo as well as softwoods, red cedar and white pine. Thicknesses mostly run from 4/4 to 8/4, but some thicker stock to 16/4 is available.
The company also markets 4x8 sheets of hardwood plywood in 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch thicknesses and in a wide range of species.
The Gilbert staff in North Carolina includes President John Henderson, Sales Manager Gary Hill, Vice President Secretary/Treasurer
Debbie Andrews, Yard Foreman Gene Pierce and sales representatives Ed White
and Donnie Turner.
In Tennessee, Steve "Red" Turner serves as general manager, Deana Davis is assistant corporate secretary, Mike Lewis is yard foreman, and sales representatives are Roger Keith, Stanley Trentham, Jeff Brothers and Holly Stewart.
At the company's 10-acre yard in North Carolina, Gilbert maintains an inventory of approximately 2 million board feet and utilizes 280,000 board feet of kiln capacity. In Tennessee, Gilbert stocks approximately 3.5 million board feet of kiln dried lumber and has a kiln capacity of more than 300,000 board feet. A Yates American B 24 planer, automatic stacker and straight line ripping equipment are utilized at both facilities. Additionally, the company uses five covered warehouses to keep its lumber clean and bright.
As an extra service to its customers, Gilbert owns a fleet of trucks and makes its own deliveries, mostly in mixed loads, to customers scattered throughout the South and East.
